Gingerbread Train Cake
For my son's 2nd birthday we got him a train set and since it's so close to Christmas, I made a train cake with a Christmas/Wintery theme. It was a gingerbread cake with a lightly flavored spiced rum buttercream frosting. And it was all decked out with gingerbread men, a gingerbread train, candy canes, a snowman and snowflakes.
With cookies to match! These were sugar cookies with a light caramel flavoring.

I made this cookie bouquet for my neighbor friend. She recently graduated from college and got a nice new job, so to show her appreciation, she wanted to get her teachers a gift. :) What a nice student.

Birdie bird wedding cake
Well, here it is ... my very 1st wedding cake. The bride is a very down-to-earth girl and she picked a cake that perfectly matches her laid-back attitude. :) First, I built the bronze birds (bride and groom) a fondant nest, which I high-lighted with bronze pearl dust. Then I covered the whole cake, which was a yellow golden butter cake, in burgundy fondant. Her florist will be arranging fresh flowers around the bottom, which is why the bottom still looks a little unfinished.
Then to go along with this earthy wedding, I made bird's nest petit fours for the kids attending this wedding.

October is a busy month ...
... Especially next week. On Wednesday, I'm making bridal shower cupcakes for work party. On Friday I'm making over-the-hill cupcakes and cookies for my friend's dad's 65th birthday party. Then on Saturday, I'm making a pumpkin-themed birthday cake for my little cousin. (Yes, even at this age, I have a little cousin. One of my aunts is only a few years older than me). And then .... the Halloween Spooktacular treat making begins!! :o) I'm really looking forward to that. I LOVE Halloween so very much!
And it doesn't look like November will slow down much. In first week, I'm making my very first wedding cake for a friend. EEK. Wish me luck on that!! Then I'm making my Grandpa's 91st birthday cake. And then an owl birthday cake for my friend's daughter's 1st birthday. Busy Busy Busy! Oh ... then I'm sure I'll be making lots of goodies for Thanksgiving. And I'm just guessing, but I would assume with Christmas coming up, December won't slow down either ...
Well ... I better get bakin'!
Look for pictures to come soon.

Laci's Candyland Cake
Candyland Birthday Cake -- a cookies and cream cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. This is my favorite cake so far. It was so fun making all the little candy pieces. I think this cake turned out really well, although I was sick the day I made this, so I think I could have done it even better if I had been feeling better. My hands were kind of shaky, too. Thank goodness little kids don't

Grandma's 90th Birthday Cake
This Cake was for my Grandma's 90th birthday. She might be 90, but nothing will keep her from the casino. Lord knows Grandma loves to gamble! :) And I had a real good time making this one, too. This is my other favorite cake, so far. I just knew with every fun little detail I put into it that Grandma was going to enjoy this cake. And she did. She even still has part of it frozen in her freezer. LOL.
It was a death-by-chocolate cake with chocolate-flavored buttercream frosting.

My Mom's 60th Birthday cake
My Mom's favorite flowers are pansies. So, I took a double-chocolate cake with chocolate and coconut butter cream frosting and covered the top with fondant pansies. Then just for fun, I decorated the edge with cookie sticks and tied the whole thing up with a matching bow! Mum was pleased.

Reese's Princess Cake
For my daughter's 4th birthday, we had a princess party. A princess cake, cookies, brownie pops ... Everything was either pink or purple and all her guests dressed like princesses or wore pink and purple. What a great day for a little girl!
