Barbie Birthday Cake

Barbie Cake

This is a white chocolate cake with raspberry filling and vanilla butter cream frosting. The bottom layer is an 8" round cake. The top was a 6" round cake, but I cut to form a purse. The idea is modeled after the birthday girl's Barbie pinata.

My daughter is loves the show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic."  She watches at least four episodes of it every day, so for her birthday, naturally she wanted a My Little Pony cake.  I made the town of Ponyville out of fondant.  The ponies themselves are just toys, borrowed from the birthday girl. This is a white chocolate cake with a raspberry filling and a lemonade butter cream frosting.

Baptism Cake

Now, this cake might look a little plain ... but if you look close, you can see all the details are covered in shiny, green luster dust.  I made this cake for a friend's grandson's baptism.  It's a vanilla cake with a raspberry filling and vanilla butter cream frosting.

Batter up! I think this Milwaukee Brewer's cake might be my best cake yet.  The only thing I would possibly change is the white background.  I think pale blue might have been a better choice.  Oh well ... next time.  This is a chocolate mint cake.  The cake is double chocolate with crushed mint candies and butter-mint frosting.

I made these cakes for a little girl named Carringtyn.  She's turning one this weekend.  She's an angel/rebel, hence the theme. Each layer of her cake is different flavor.  On top, we have a chocolate/caramel cake with caramel butter cream frosting. The middle is strawberry with chocolate butter cream (like a chocolate-covered strawberry).  The bottom is a white chocolate cake with raspberry butter cream.  And the little baby cake, which was made for the birthday girl, is a vanilla cake with vanilla butter cream.  Happy 1st Birthday!

Classic Movie Cake for Grandpa

Movie Cake I

This cake for was made for my Grandpa's 85th birthday.  He loves to sit in the recliner and watch old movies on TMC.  So ... I made him a cake to reflect his favorite pass time.  It's an Irish Car Bomb cake, because he's Irish and his birthday is close to St. Patty's Day.  This is a chocolate cake that was made with Guinness Beer, Irish whiskey and the butter cream frosting is made with Bailey Irish Cream. The best part was, I covered the cake board with all of Gramps' favorite movie posters.  He loved it!!

Yellow Submarine Cake I

This was one of my favorite cakes!  What a rockin' theme for a birthday.  I made this for my friend's dad's birthday. He's a big Beatles fan, hence the "Yellow Submarine." It's a white chocolate double-layer cake with raspberry butter cream frosting, all covered in fondant. All the decorations are fondant, too. But the best part is inside --- I put the batter in three bowls and added colors to each bowl.  Then I added a little of each color to the cake pans, and swirled them into a bright dye-tied pattern.   Have a great day, Mikey.  I hope your birthday rocks!!

Dinosaur Baby Shower Treats

Dinosaur cupcakes and cookies

These dino-mite treats were really fun to make.  They're for a baby shower with a dinosaur theme.  Since the baby mama hasn't been able to drink, I made her some margarita and golden champagne cupcakes because cupcakes are the next best thing to an intoxicating cocktail, right?

Girly Bowling Cupcakes

I made these cupcakes for a friend of a friend's girls' weekend bowling party.  They are cookies and cream cupcakes with pink vanilla butter cream frosting.  The bowling balls and personalized bowling shirt for the birthday girl are made with fondant and covered with pearl dust for a bit of glittery fun.  The little bowling pins are just decor.
